Kolibrie's zijn solitaire vogels, die dus apart dienen te worden gehuisvest. Dus alleen in een zeer grote volière's zou dit mogelijk zijn maar zelfs dan kan dit nog verkeerd aflopen door hun territorium gedrag. De vogels waar we het nu over gaan hebben komen voor op een hoogte van ongeveer 500 tot 2000 m. De volière's zijn bij mij1.20x1.20x2.10 m groot, per vogel. De temperatuur is door de cv vast gezet op twintig graden celsius.De bodem bedekking kan bestaan uit krantepapier of beukensnippers, dus zo min mogelijk stof. En dus nooit een stofzuiger gebruiken i.v.m schimmelinfecties. Verder iedere morgen vers badwater. Dit water word in een schaaltje op dertig cm hoogte geplaatst met niet meer dan 1 cm diep water. Normaal baad een kolibrie op natte bladeren, maar ingevangenschap levert dat alleen maar zieke vogels op, omdat de vogel de hele dag rondvliegt en alle bladeren bevuild met zijn uitwerpselen. Besproeidt u de bladeren, en de vogel gaat hierop baden, dan begrijpt u wat de gevolgen zijn. Dus beter geen bladeren in de kooi. Voor de zitstokken gebruik ik stokken van 5 tot 6 mm. Het drinkflesje is op kinhoogte bevestigd aan de buitenzijde van de kooi met aan de binnenzijde een zitstokje. Hij moet ook zittend kunnen drinken.Wat betreft de daglichturen, die zijn bij mij twaalf uur. Hierbij komt nog een dimtijd van een half uur naar oriëntatielicht. De voeding is tweemaal per dag. Wat de beluchting betreft, de lucht wordt bij mij aan de voorzijde ingeblazen en met dezelfde kracht afgezogen. Zo kan de lucht zich minstens 5x per uur de volière totaal verversen. Wat betreft de flesjes en de badwaterschaaltjes, deze worden in de morgen en de avond met heet water schoongemaakt en daarna gedurende de nacht en de dag gedesinfecteerd in een oplossing van water en een scheutje bleekwater dit houdt in: 1 eetlepel bleek op 8 liter water

Hummingbirds are birds which prefer to live alone so they can't live together in an aviary. Only in a huge aviary it's possible but also then it can end wrong. Now we gonna talk about a bird which only lives at a hight of 500-2000 meters. The aviary has to be 1.20x1.20x2.10 meters big, a bird. The temperature is 20 degrees. On the floor you can put papers or woodchips. But no dust so don't use a vacuum cleaner cause that can lead to mouldinfections. Then you have to put every morning fresh bathwater in the aviary. It has to be a cm deep and you have to put the water 30 cm from the bottom. Usually a hummingbird bathers on wet leafs in the nature but not in an aviary. That delivers only sick birds cause they fly the whole day over the leafs and so they are gonna be dirty. So don't put any leafs in the aviary. For the seats I use sticks from 5 a 6 mm. The drinkbottle hangs on chin altitude outside the aviary with a stick on the inside side. It has to sit when it drinks. the bird needs 12 hours a day daylight and after that a little light at half an hour and after that also a kind of light so the birds can prepare to sleep. You have to feed the birds twice a day. A blower refreshes the air 5 times an hour. The scales and the drinkbottles has been cleaned in the morning and evening with hot water and during the night you have to let them outside the cache with water and palewater. one eatspoon palewater at 8 litres water.
